Chris Perez – Sr. Story Producer at eTalk

To launch Atlas off, I want to introduce you all to Chris Perez. Chris not only has a really cool job – he’s a Senior Story Producer for eTalk on CTV – but he has taken a really interesting path to get there.
In high school, Chris was involved in a co-op program that exposed students to fields outside of their academic strengths. Chris, who excelled in math and science, did his placement working on a TV show at Rogers. He discovered that not only did he enjoy it, but he excelled when working in media and soon attracted attention of his co-workers and bosses. Eventually Chris was hired as a cameraman/editor, and was shortly promoted to associate producer and then to producer. While at Rogers, Chris produced shows such as Toronto Living, Toronto Dining, and Rushes.
Fast forward to 2006, when Chris had been doing freelance work for eTalk Daily and applied to work for them fulltime. He was hired on the spot.
At eTalk, Chris comes up with story ideas, directs field shoots, conducts interviews, and all the other tasks that go with bringing a story to life. From being embedded to cover shows such as Canadian Idol and Canada’s Next Top Model, to travelling to the Bahamas to get exclusive coverage of Miss Universe, Chris has worked on some really exciting projects. Ultimately his goal is to produce his own show. For now, reflective of his high school experience, Chris subscribes to Lao Tzu’s quote, “A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving.”
If you want to learn more about Chris you can follow him on Twitter or check him out on LinkedIn, though he says the best way to learn about his work is to “watch eTalk at 7pm ET/PT across Canada on CTV.”
